Worming:
Puppies are highly susceptible to worms because of the rate at which they are growing. Our worming protocol at Southern Bred Labs is Nemex 2 (Pyrantel Pamoate) at weeks 2, 3, and 4. Then Panacur (Fenbendazole) at weeks 6 and 8.
Once you have your puppy home he/she will need to be wormed again at 12 and 16 weeks. Please be sure to use a medication that will rid your puppy/dog of tapeworms, hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, and heartworms.

Distemper/Parvo/Parainfluenza/Adenovirus2:
Puppies will be up-to-date on shots before leaving our home. Our puppies are vaccinated between weeks 6 and 7. If your puppy is still on our premises at 9 weeks we will also give him/her their 9 week booster. The third shot will need to be given at 12 weeks. It is always a good idea to have a veterinarian in mind before bringing your new puppy home.
Heartworms:
When your puppy is around 16 weeks old it is time to speak with your veterinarian about heartworm prevention. It's easy to prevent Heartworms, but once your dog has them they can be hard to get rid of and cause lasting damage.

Fleas & Ticks:
We use Bravecto on all of our dogs. It is approved for puppies over 8 weeks old. Prior to the puppies reaching 8 weeks old we use Capstar and Advantage if we have a particularly bad flea & tick season.
